Five Hikes Your Don’t Want To Miss During Your Smoky Mountain Vacation

The summertime is a wonderful time to explore the Smoky Mountains by foot. Get out your hiking boots, grab some water and pack the snacks, you’re ready to explore the mountains the right way! With several hikes to choose from, how do you know which trails are close to your Smoky Mountain cabins? Luckily, our Smoky Mountain cabin rentals are close to the National Park entrance. Explore the five hikes you don’t want to miss this summer during your Smoky Mountain vacation!

  • Rainbow Falls

Bring your camera and enjoy the view! One of the Smoky Mountains most beautiful waterfalls is the payoff for this intermediate hike. The hike is 5.4 roundtrip hike is great for all ages. While the hike isn’t long in length, the change in elevation will make this hike difficult.

  • Ramsey Cascades

A Smoky Mountain favorite, the Ramsey Cascades are truly breathtaking! This hike is longer in length at an 8.0 roundtrip. However, once you arrive at the cascades, you will believe it was worth every step! This hike is recommended for seasoned hikers as it is rated difficult. Carve out time on your vacation for this wonderful hike. It will take multiple hours to complete. Bring lots of water and lunch to enjoy in the mountains!

  • Alum Cave

Pack a picnic and enjoy a perfect afternoon day at Alum Cave. This intermediate hike is a quick hike that is recommended for anybody! The trail is 4.0 roundtrip and offers stunning views from the top. The cave is a great place to cool off during a hot summer afternoon. Arrive at this trail early as it does get busy during the summer months.

  • Charlie’s Bunion

Views from the top. Charlie’s Bunion is known as one of the best views in the Smoky Mountains. This trail MUST be on your hiking list this summer. Be prepared and start early! This trail is for those who are determined to have their breath taken away, in more ways than one! At 8.1 miles roundtrip and high elevation changes, you can expect an adventure. Be on the lookout for wildlife when you’re on the trail. It is likely you will encounter a deer, elk or bear on your hike to the top.

  • Grotto Falls

Do you love chasing waterfalls like we do? You’re in luck because this waterfall is accessible by a beautiful hike. This hike is only 2.6 miles roundtrip, and you can bring the whole family. It is rated as an easier hike, so you don’t need to worry about wearing yourself out. This trail can be hiked any time of day due to its length. Look for wildflowers along the way; this trail is known for the selection! If you’re feeling too hot, cool off with a splash of water from the falls. There’s nothing like it!
